T.I. Leaves A "Paper Trail" To The Top Spot, Young Jeezy Withstands "The Recession," Nelly Is Knocked Down

In this week's Sales Wrap, the "King" holds his throne as T.I. stays at No. 1, Jennifer Hudson keeps the spotlight turned on and Ne-Yo keeps it classy within the Top 10.
Once given the title "Jay-Z of the South," T.I continues to remain a top contender as Paper Trail shows no intention of moving from the top spot on this week's charts. According to Nielsen SoundScan, Tip moved an easy 176,700 units from store shelves this week and 746,100 copies overall.
Reality star turned Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson has also impacted the charts heavy this week landing the No. 4 spot selling a solid 62,700 copies of her new self-titled debut. At the end of 14 days in stores, the Chi-town singer's debut has sold 280,392 discs.
Showing what it takes to be a gentleman and a scholar, Ne-Yo keeps fans in line to pick-up Year of the Gentleman helping it stay within Top 10 as it reaches No. 8 moving 46,900 units this week. After a month on stores' shelves, the album is nearing gold with a total of 450,400 copies out the door.
Remaining in the charts this week is soft voiced Robin Thicke as Something Else slips out of Top 10 and lands at No. 12 this week selling 38,300 albums. Following-up his platinum selling The Evolution of Robin Thicke, Thicke's latest continues its slow pace with 175,600 copies sold.
Showing no intention of dropping out of the Top 20 before the holidays, Lil' Wayne's Tha Carter III stays put at No. 13 this week selling 27,200 copies. Weezy has already promised fans via his blog that the self-proclaimed "Greatest Rapper Alive" is already in the works with Tha Carter IV. Cash Money Records' top artist has sold a total of 2,550,500 units on his latest release.
Soulful singer Jazmine Sullivan's Fearless joins Wayne in the Top 20, landing at No. 14 scanning 27,000 albums this week. Available in stores for the past two weeks, Sullivan's debut album has pushed 134,900 units to date.
Reminding fans of today's tough economic times as seen from the closing of major banks, Young Jeezy's The Recession has hit No. 15 selling 26,800 copies this week. His third Def Jam release is led by the hit single "Vacation" and after a month and a half on shelves has officially been certified gold with 516,500 copies sold.
R&B vixen Rihanna also remains within Top 20 after months of being in stores as her re-released Good Girl Gone Bad moves two spots to No. 17 selling a stellar 23,000 albums this week. The newly updated Def Jam release allows the songstress to add a bit more style with her hits "Umbrella" and "Take A Gem." After 71 weeks on the charts, she has pushed 1,891,300 units out of stores.
West Coast's The Game shows he can still hold his own as L.A.X. takes a slight slip to No. 21 with a total of 20,800 albums sold this week. L.A.X, his third album, looks to go gold next week with a total of 496,800 copies currently sold.
British soul singer Leona Lewis continues to stay in the charts as her platinum-certified album Spirit reaches No. 22 selling 19,762 copies this week as the UK singer's debut has sold a solid 1,166,500 albums after 27 weeks in the US.
Proving girl power is still relevant in today's times, pop group Pussycat Dolls landed No. 30 with their sophomore album Doll Domination selling 17,200 copies this week. A month in stores and the band has evened out at 125,700 purchased albums.
Showing off her vocal skills without the help of her former mega group Destiny's Child, Michelle Williams quietly hits the charts this week debuting at No. 42 with her new release, Unexpected. Led by the singles "We Break the Dawn" and "Hello Heartbreak," the R&B singer opened her first seven days in stores with a total of 12,200 copies sold.
Falling just below Williams is Grammy-nominated singer Joe Thomas aka Joe. This week his latest project Joe Thomas, New Man keeps a fans returning to retail stores as he lands at No. 43 selling 12,000 units. After three weeks in stores, Joe's new album has sold a total of 91,000 records.
The Mid-West struggles to remain in the Top 50 as Nelly's Brass Knuckles sinks to No. 45 selling 11,900 copies this week. The St. Lunatics leader who was known for his multi-platinum album sales as well as his Mid-Western drawl, has pushed just 139,000 records of his latest effort after a month in stores.
Representing for the Texans this week is Devin the Dude who quietly puts Houston back on the map as Landing Gear takes hold of No. 47. Serving as his fifth studio album and first on the indy, Razor & Tie, Devin has opened his first week with 10,800 sold copies.
