THIS WEEK HIP-HOP & R&B ALBUM SALES
Gospel singer Marvin Sapp's Here I Am landed at No. 2 this week falling to Lady Antebellum's Need You Now which sold 93,100 copies. According to Nielsen Soundscan, Sapp's new album has moved 69,800 records in its first week on store shelves.
Grammy-winning rapper Ludacris' Battle of the Sexes lost its number one spot falling two slots down to No. 3 with 61,200. After two weeks in stores, the rapper's compilation project has moved 198,500 copies.
Renowned singer Sade's Soldier of Love remained at No. 6 this week pushing 40,300. With six weeks under her belt, the United Kingdom songstress' latest effort is nearing platinum status with 991,700 records in the books.
Award-winning group The Black Eyed Peas' E.N.D. (Energy Never Dies) received a one-slot boost to No. 8 with 38,800. After 41 weeks, the album has been able to shell out 2,309,500 copies.
Animated band Gorillaz's Plastic Beach fell seven slots down to No. 9 with 37,900. Headed into their third week, the crew's new album rests at 150,200 sold copies.
Music newcomer Ke$ha's Animal boosted upward by two positions to No. 12 with 27,800. After 11 weeks, the singer's new album is nearing gold status with 491,500 records in the books.
Incarcerated rapper Lil Wayne's The Rebirth dropped five slots to No. 17 with 24,100. With seven weeks in the books, the rapper's experimental rock album rests at 444,600 sold copies.
Video vixen Rihanna's Rated R moved up two slots to No. 20 with 21,000. After 17 weeks, the singer's new solo project has sold 752,800 records.
R&B singer Trey Songz's Ready received a one-spot boost to No. 24 with 17,900. Headed into his 30th week, the singer's latest effort has sold 611,500 records.
Grammy-winning singer Alicia Keys' Element of Freedom moved down four positions to No. 27 with 16,400. With 14 weeks under her belt, the crooner's latest solo project has sold 1,162,600 copies.
Young Money's We Are Young Money compilation moved up four slots to No. 31 with 15,600. After 13 weeks, the crew's debut project has sold 391,300 copies.
R&B singer Jaheim's Another Round slipped two spots to No. 35 with 13,300. Going into his seventh week, the crooner's latest effort rests at 222,200 scanned discs.
R&B veteran Mary J. Blige's Stronger lost a bit of strength this week moving down nine slots to No. 39 with 12,600. After 13 weeks, the singer's new album has sold 701,800 records.
Singer Raheem DeVaugn's Love & War Masterpeace took a hard hit falling 17 spots to No. 41 with 12,100. With three weeks under his belt, the singer's new album stands at 76,600 records.
Evening things out in Top 50 is singer Jason Derulo's self-titeld album dropping 16 positions down to No. 45 with 11,600. After three weeks in stores, the singer's debut has moved 70,700 records to date.
