THIS WEEK HIP-HOP & R&B ALBUM SALES
Music newcomer Ke$sha took a slight two-slot dip this week as Animal fell to No. 3 with 66,800 records while Vampire Weekend's Contra debuted atop the charts with 123,600. According to Nielsen Soundscan, the singer's new album has sold 218,800 copies after two weeks in stores.
Grammy-winning singer Alicia Keys' The Element of Freedom slipped one slot to No. 5 with 47,600. After five weeks in stores, the song bird's latest effort has pushed 888,500 records to date.
The Queen of R&B Mary J. Blige's Stronger dropped two positions to No. 7 with 34,700. With a month in the books, the R&B veteran's new album rests at 475,500 scanned discs.
Pop group Black Eyed Peas' E.N.D. (Energy Never Dies) also fell two slots to hold things down at No. 10 with 32,400. After a strong 32 weeks on the charts, their latest project has sold 1,855,100 copies.
R&B singer Rihanna's Rated R slipped two slots to No. 13 with 23,700. With two months under her belt, RiRi's new solo album has moved 549,700 copies.
Late singer Michael Jackson's This Is It compilation moved back into the Top 20 by boosting six slots upward to land at No. 17 with 20,900. After three months, the iconic singer's album has sold 1,325,700 records.
Lil Wayne's Young Money compilation, We Are Young Money, fell five spots to No. 18 with 20,600. Headed into their fifth week, the album currently rests at 232,300 records.
Former Young Money artist Omarion's Ollusion debuted on the charts this week landing a spot at No. 19. After seven days in stores, the singer's solo effort stands at 19,400 scanned discs.
Grammy-winning rapper Eminem's Relapse: Refill fell seven positions to No. 23 with 16,700. With 35 weeks under his belt, Slim Shady's comeback album stands at 1,776,500 records.
Rap mogul Jay-Z's The Blueprint III dropped four positions down to No. 26 with 15,400. Headed into his 20th week, Hovi's new album currently rests at 1,548,800 copies.
R&B singer Robin Thicke's Sex Therapy also moved downward four slots to No. 28 with 14,300. After five weeks, the singer's new album has sold 241,300 records.
R&B crooner Trey Songz's Ready remained at No. 36 this week with 11,600. Headed into his 21st week, the singer's new album stands at 462,300 sold copies.
Incarcerated rapper Gucci Mane's State Vs. Radric Davis also remained in its same spot resting at No. 37 with 11,300. After a month and a half, Gucci's new album has sold 214,500 records.
Grammy-winning singer Beyonce's I Am...Sasha Fierce dropped six slots to No. 38 with 10,900. With 61 weeks under her belt, Mrs. Carter's latest effort has sold 2,682,600 records to date.
R&B singer Melanie Fiona's Bridge moved up four slots this week landing at No. 41 with 10,300. After 11 weeks in stores, the Roc Nation songstress' album rests at 139,700 sold discs.
Evening things out in Top 50 is Snoop Dogg's Malice N Wonderland which moves down one slot to No. 44 with 9,900. Headed into his seventh week, the rapper's new album has pushed 167,300 records out of stores.
